wendigo is delighted to announce a new venture

12 years ago, Wendigo opened for a weekend for its first Syttende Mai. The space was a mess, we barely knew what we were doing, and it was our very first time pretending to be Norwegian. Still you all came. We were absolutely floored by the response. Right away you welcomed us to downtown and our new hometown. This weekend it’s that most glorious time of year again. We are always so excited and nervous and can’t wait for it to be over but still love every minute of it. But this year will be a little bit different. It is with the heaviest of hearts and tears in our eyes to say that this will be our last Syttende Mai. We have come to the impossibly difficult decision to close Wendigo. After 12 years we will be shutting down after the holiday weekend with our last day being Thursday the 21st. We have had the unbelievable honor to be at the heart of your town and a part of your lives and for that we will be forever grateful. If you came in once to check it out or were here every week (you know who you are), we cannot say thank you enough for coming along on this great adventure. To the incomparable people who made it all happen, every single one of you over the years. You will always be the soul and beauty of Wendigo. You are our family and best friends. You are the coolest, funniest, most creative, kindest, most spectacular, hard working, resourceful, caring human beings we will ever have the privilege to do anything arm in arm with. Wendigo is what it is because of you. You were always there for us, and we will always be there for you. We love people and food and bringing them both together so this is far from the end. Everything else we have going on is still going. Stoughton is our home so we will be around. If you can stop by one last Syttende Mai we would love to see ya. Come for some food and a drink, share a story or a memory, grab a hug and a smile. We couldn’t think of a better way to say goodbye than one last go round with what started it all. We’re still pretending to be Norwegian, and we’re still floored every single day by what you helped us achieve. We love you Stoughton. Tusen Takk!!!!!!!!!!!!
